Privacy & temporary sharing
How the private sharing flow is designed
The shared-card workflow is designed around temporary encrypted storage rather
than keeping your photo, text, voice note or video as normal directly viewable content.
Encrypted before upload
The prepared photo, text, voice note or video is encrypted in the browser before
the temporary shared copy is sent to MixPlay. The server-side copy is stored as
encrypted data rather than directly viewable media or plain text.
Expiry and cleanup
Cards can be set to expire automatically. If delete-after-reveal is enabled,
the encrypted server copy can also be removed after the card has been fully
revealed and marked as used.
Important:
the complete share link should be treated as private. Anyone who receives that link
may be able to open the card while it remains valid. Do not use the tool for passwords,
banking details, identity documents or other highly sensitive information.

Frequently asked questions
Does the recipient need a MixPlay account?
No. They simply open the private link in a modern browser and scratch the card.
Can someone see or play the hidden content before scratching?
The recipient’s browser retrieves and decrypts the shared content, while the scratch
layer remains over the reveal area until it is removed or Reveal All is used.
Is my shared content stored in a normal viewable format?
For shared cards, the workflow is designed to store encrypted data rather than a normal
directly viewable photo, plain-text message, voice file or video.
What types of content can I hide?
You can create a scratch card containing a photo, a text message, a voice note or a short video,
using the options available in the tool above.
What happens when the card expires?
Once the expiry time is reached, the card becomes unavailable. Expired encrypted files are then
handled by the site’s cleanup process.
What does “delete after first reveal” mean?
When this option is enabled and the card is fully revealed, the system can mark it as used and
remove the encrypted server copy so that the same card is no longer available.
Can I send the card through WhatsApp or email?
Yes. Copy the complete share link and send it through WhatsApp, Messenger, email, text message
or another service.
Does scratching change my original photo, recording or video?
No. The scratch interaction happens in the recipient’s browser. Your original content on your
own device is not modified.
Can I share sensitive or private information?
Treat the complete share link as private because anyone who has it may be able to open the card
while it remains valid. Avoid using the service for passwords, financial information, identity
documents or other highly sensitive material.
Can I make the card expire automatically?
Yes. Choose one of the available expiry periods before creating the share link.
Can the recipient use a phone or tablet?
