Pro tip:
For a realistic ripped-paper look, use medium roughness, a fairly small gap, a visible paper edge and a soft shadow. Very large gaps can look more like two separate photos than one torn image.

What is the difference between Torn Border and Vertical Tear?
Torn Border creates ripped edges around the outside of the entire photograph. Vertical Tear splits the image into two pieces with a tear running from the top to the bottom.
Can I tear the picture horizontally?
Yes. Choose Horizontal Tear to create a rip running from one side of the image to the other.
What does Tear Depth do?
Tear Depth controls how far the irregular torn edge extends into the photograph. A higher setting creates a deeper and more dramatic rip.
What does Roughness do?
Roughness controls how uneven and jagged the edge becomes. Lower values create a calmer tear while higher values create a more irregular ripped-paper appearance.
What does Gap do?
Gap controls the amount of visible space between the torn pieces when using the vertical or horizontal tear modes.
Can I change the background behind the tear?
Yes. Use the background colour control to change the colour visible around or between the torn pieces.
Can I make the tear look like real paper?
Yes. Turn on the paper-edge option and combine it with moderate roughness and shadow to give the photograph more depth and a paper-like appearance.
What image formats can I upload?
The tool supports common browser-compatible image formats including JPG, PNG and WebP.
Does the tool change my original photograph?
